SABLE SATIN

Our own unique product

ALL TEXTURE

Sable Satin is our own unique product that gives your home unseen character. It is a textured water-based paint that consists mostly of mineral additives that give your walls the texture of sand. The result is a very strong paint with a velvet look and an earthy texture.

Once applied it might look like a high-end plastering technique, but the product can be used with ease of paint. That makes it very accessible to do it yourself. So you don't have to be a professional at all to achieve a high-level result.

EFFORTLESS

Sable satin can be brushed or rolled onto interior walls and ceilings. It is a pleasure to work with thanks to its thick coverage and rich pigmentation. This also makes it forgiving on imperfectly plastered walls.

Here too, your individual creativity is important. Different nuances are created by movement: long or short brush strokes, in different directions, or applying the paint with a trowel, ... it will all influence or emphasize the tactility.

No rules, great paint.

Be creative, you can't go wrong! Apply in different directions and movements to create your personal patina.

Two layer perfection.

Our limewash gives a perfect coverage: two coats of paint will give a stunning result.

Eco friendly.

Water based, low VOC and natural ingredients for a healthy home.

Easy to use.

You don't have to mix components or add pigments yourself. Just focus on the process.

LIMEWASH PAINT

Step-by-step instructions

Read our step-by-step instructions of watch the video below!

1. Prepare the surface

Start by cleaning the surface: there should be no dust or loose parts.

It is always recommended to apply at least 1 coat of primer. This way you can be assured of good adhesion and synthetic absorption of the surface. Be sure to allow the primer to dry before painting.

2. Protect floors, surfaces and furniture

Because our lime paint is made on a water basis, you can easily clean up accidents with water directly. Since this is not fun work, it's better to cover the floor. For walls, skirting boards and ceilings that should not be painted, use high-quality painter's tape.

Press the tape firmly so that no paint gets under it. Do you want perfect alignment? Then check out the tips and tricks in the blog articles.

3. Prepare your paint and tools

Take your time to stir the paint well and stir occasionally while painting. Pour some paint into your paint bucket.

4. Apply a first coat of paint

Use our recommended brush. Pick up paint and apply a first coat. However, do not work too deliberately: start in one place and write the paint open well. You can cross the brush strokes or work in half moons or work random. For an expressive look use short brush strokes, for a calmer look you can use long brush strokes. Do your own thing for a unique result!

Once your brush is smoothed out, start in a different spot and repeat the process.

There’s no need to dilute the paint, but if you want a more extreme cloudy effect, you can dilute the layers with water (no more than 10%). Experiment in advance by doing some tests.

5. Apply the next coat of paint

Wait at least 8 hours to apply a second coat (depending on room temperature). Apply the second coat in the same manner as above, but starting in a different spot.

You can apply as many coats as you want, depending on the look you are aiming for

good to know

  • Paint a wall surface in one go, stopping halfway can cause major color differences.
  • Unlike regular paint, lime paint is darker when applied, but will become lighter after drying.
  • You can immediately rinse your brush and bucket with water and use them again!
  • Lime paint is vapor permeable and breathable which makes it more sensitive to moisture and therefore less suitable for damp rooms in direct contact with water and condensation. In that case, finish with a (transparent, matte) varnish.
